Streaming Audio/Video Quote

Completing this form will allow you to get an estimated quote for a live broadcast using our Helix server. All quotes generated from this page are estimates and are subject to change after review by our staff. Our key concern is that we allocate the proper capacity for your broadcast so it is important we get your estimates for the both maximum download rates, and also an overall average. For us to give you a good estimate of cost of your broadcast we need you to answer the following 6 questions:

  • Enter the MAXIMUM number of streams you want supported:
This is the maximum number of listeners you expect to have for your broadcast at any one time.
  • Enter the AVERAGE number of streams you expect to serve:
This is the average number of listeners during the ENTIRE time your broadcast is available, e.g. If you were a 24 hours news station, you might estimate only a few listeners during night hours(5), more during the day (50), and perhaps two one hour peaks in the morning and evening (100). While your MAXIMUM might be 100, your average might be 30 over an entire broadcast period.
  • Enter the Average Bitrate Of Your Broadcast: Kbits/sec.
The Helix server allows you to encode a broadcast a different rates and the actual download rate can also vary depending on the listeners connection to the Internet. You can have a clip encoded at a high rate, 128 KBps (128,000 Bits per second) -- if all your listeners are on a corporate high speed network, your average rate might also be 128 KBps. But if your target audience was people at home, and maybe 25% of those had cable modems, while the rest were dialup at 32KBps, your average rate might be only 56 KBps.
  • Enter the number of days during a month when you wish to broadcast.
  • Enter the average number of hours per day you want your streams active. Hours
Depending on what you are doing, this may vary based on what day it is -- just give us an average and explain in the comments area which follows
  • Please let us know the kind of broadcast (what type of event), and more information about your schedule and time, i.e. daily, weekly, weekends, etc ...
  • Please enter the days and times of your broadcasts in the space below. Note, any later adjustments or changes in broadcasts schedules will result in a $20 administrative fee.
